AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes at Century Canine

Your puppy is cute. Your shoes are not safe. Let's fix that.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsible ownership — and our 6-week class covers all of it. Over six fun, structured sessions, you and your pup will tackle the real stuff: sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, coming when called, and how to actually handle a puppy who thinks your hands are chew toys. We'll also answer your burning questions about house training, chewing, jumping, and everything else that has you Googling at midnight.

At the end of the 6 weeks, your puppy will be tested on 20 skills and behaviors. Pass the test and your pup earns an official AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy title, a frameable certificate, and gets listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. Yes, your dog will have credentials before most people do.

The program is open to both purebred and mixed breed dogs, so every puppy is welcome. Puppies must be under 1 year of age and attend at least 6 classes with an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator (Century Canine).

Completing S.T.A.R. Puppy also sets you up perfectly for the next step — the Canine Good Citizen program, the gold standard for polite dog behavior and a fantastic head start for the world of dog sports.

AKC Canine Good Citizens Classes (CGC) at Century Canine

Is your dog ready to earn their stripes?

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification is one of the most recognized titles in dog training, and for good reason. It proves your dog has the manners, confidence, and self-control to handle real life. Walking politely on leash, greeting strangers calmly, sitting for basic commands, staying composed around other dogs… a true good boy/good girl.

What to Expect

Our Fall CGC program is a 6-week group class designed to prepare you and your dog for the official AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Each week we'll work through the 10 CGC test items together, building reliability and confidence along the way. You'll leave every class with homework, clear goals, and a dog who's making real progress.

At the end of the program, dogs who are ready will have the opportunity to take the official CGC evaluation on site.

Class Details

• Duration: 6 weeks

• Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with sit, down, and leash walking recommended

• Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations
